The Industrial Revolution

Well, since we are going to be documenting the various technological marvels taken for granted nowadays, we might as well start our journey from the very start, i.e, the Industrial Revolution.

Basically, the Industrial Revolution was kick-started by the advent of machinisation of day-to-day tasks, agriculture, textile industries, etc. All of these tasks were made possible by the invention of the Steam Engine,by James Watt.

A dramatic increase in production capacity was reached due to such early inroads into the field of Thermal and Power Sciences.

This is an overly simplistic view of the origins of the Industrial Revolution, which in reality, has a rather murky past.

The Protestant Movement and its ramifications served to make a wide chasm in the hitherto followed theology of the Catholic Church, further undermining the authority of Papacy and bringing to fore unknown, and sometimes even banned Underground Scientific Societies.

After that, 'All is History', as they say.Due to the gradual assimilation of radical Scientific thought, many 'Closet Inventors' came out with their inventions and other postulates on Cosmic Science, which finally heralded the onset of an era of extreme development in Science and Technology, which continues even today.

The Beginning .... of a hopefully Long journey into the annals of Science..

Well, it seems that blogomania has finally caught up with me after all! It seems just yesterday when man had invented the telephone, and riding on bell's invention, humankind seems to know no boundaries at all!

Not that we are complaining, that is. The Internet and e-mail have revolutionised life and brought us to the zenith of technological development, with more peaks in sight! It seems to be too short a transition from the humble telephone, to the rocket science that mankind possesses now.Yet, it all came from the hard work, dedication, and pure genius of a few brilliant minds to bring the technological marvels that we take for granted today.

Through the next few posts, I shall hopefully be able to document some of these major breakthroughs in science and technology that led to the lifestyle we lead in the twenty first century.
